Clarke作品一定要看原文，作品中严紧的科学气份和精确性的描写，诗歌般的语句在译文版中是体会不到的

伟大的SF作家，优秀的科学家，大预言家及一位好友--Sir Patrick Moore对Clarke的评价
1945年Clarke在Wireless World杂志上首先发表了有关地球同步轨道及卫星在通讯广播上的用途.以后地球同步轨道有时也叫作Clarke带
1979年在小说The Fountains of Paradise中预言到类似GOOGLE ALERT的网络服务，当然还有著名的轨道电梯
还在诸多作品中提及Visual art的概念，当然应该和KEY无关
Clarke作品中常使用科学比喻，以下仅举几个摘自childhood's end中的例子
1）George felt rather sorry for Maia. This should have been her day, but Rashaverak
had partially eclipsed her.
这句中eclipse常指的是日月星的食这里比喻overshade
2）always a ~child-and then spreads explosively, like the formation of
crystals round the first nucleus in a saturated solution.
以在饱合溶液中加入晶核来开始结晶来比喻多米诺效应
3）Far down in the rock, the segments of uranium began to rush together, seeking
the union they could never achieve.
那是在喻指引爆核弹

across the cold, dark water at this monument to man's exploring impulses. There
seemed no convenient way of getting to the wreck, but that did not really
matter.
When they had suited up, they carried the wreath to the water's edge, held
it solemnly for a moment in front of the camera, then tossed in this tribute
from Galaxy's crew. It had been beautifully made; even though the only raw
materials available were metal foil, paper and plastic, one could easily believe
